Sono un fan sfegatato di Dragonball da quando era ancora in corso il manga ahahahah e questo è solo il primo anime che vedo in lingua originale!

The Cat Returns (Neko no ongaeshi | La ricompensa del gatto) di Morita Hiroyuki, animazione - avventura, Giappone, 2002.
La timida e impacciata studentessa Haru rischia la vita per salvare un gatto che sta per essere investito da un camion. Grande è la sua sorpresa nel vedere l'animale alzarsi su due zampe e ringraziarla parlando con voce gentile! È solo l'inizio di una serie di avventure incredibili in cui la ragazza si troverà coinvolta: il gatto da lei salvato si rivela infatti essere il figlio del Re del Regno dei Gatti...
Dopo aver visto I sospiri del mio cuore, del 1995, e aver curiosato (grazie ad un'amica) sui due gatti presenti in quel lungometraggio (Barone e Muta), navigando su internet ho scoperto che essi vengono ripresi anche in Neko no ongaeshi (2002), altro bel lavoro dello Studio Ghibli. La storia è bella, come gli sfondi, in perfetto stile ghibliano. Solamente i disegni raffiguranti gli umani si discostano un po' dal solito tratto, i personaggi sono adorabili (in primis Haru, Barone e Muta). Avendo due gatti in casa mi hanno fatto parecchio sorridere alcune situazioni in cui si ritrovano coinvolti i nostri eroi.
Film davvero carino e per gli aficionados dello Studio Ghibli almeno una visione è obbligatoria. In Italia il film è stato proiettato solamente durante il Future Film Festival di Bologna del 2005 in lingua originale sottotitolato, e non è ancora stato distribuito.

L'anime non ha una trama evidente, è come una serie di dipinti in cui si notano solo alcune parti o figure in movimento, le prime immagini sono relativamente realistiche poi diventano man mano più surreali e oniriche. È praticamente privo di dialoghi. Diviso in 8 parti, ognuna sviluppata partendo da alcuni dipinti di Inoue e con alcune parti animate in CG. L'arte di Iblard ha ispirato le scene del libro fantasy nel film I sospiri del mio cuore (1995).
30 minuti di pura poesia per gli occhi e per le orecchie. Quadri in movimento accompagnati da melodie dolci e rilassanti. Il mondo fantasy rappresentato è spettacolare, regolato da leggi fisiche ben diverse da quelle che noi conosciamo. Per alcuni potrebbe risultare noioso ma merita comunque una visione. Per me, un altro piccolo capolavoro ghibliano.

Di solito gli anime non li visiono, perché spesso sono tratti da un manga, e nel caso leggo solo quello quindi mi sono dato adesso a Shingeki no Kyojin visto che ha avuto grande popolarità, ho aspettato che tutti l'avessero guardato e cadesse un pochino nel dimenticaio xD e il manga non sono interessato ad acquistarlo.
